About Our Preschool |
The Preschool is a morning program which provides developmentally appropriate learning experiences in classes for younger 2's, older 2's, 3 year olds and 4 year olds. Our year goes from September through May. We recognize the importance of play as a child's God-given, natural way to develop social and thinking skills. Warm, loving teachers provide a safe, child-centered Christian environment in which each child can grow to his/her full potential. All of God's children are welcome! |
We start with timid, terrific little two year olds, who soon find out that this is a special place where somebody besides mom and dad will love them and take good care of them. When they become three, they find by playing and socializing with children their own age that each member of the class is a special child of God, but not the center of the universe! We help them find their own place in this new scheme of things. And then the wild and wonderful fours come to realize that they can do many things for themselves, and that they are ready to go out into the world (AKA Big School) and LEARN! |
Our curriculum model provides structure, with many opportunities for creativity and individual differences within that structure. We know that these years are a critical time when foundations for a child's cognitive, motor, emotional, social, and faith skills are being laid. We stress play, active learning, language, and music and movement in a developmentally appropriate curriculum which is shaped to meet the individual needs of each child. Three and four year olds also attend chapel weekly. |
